1. However – shows contrast

Meaning: Introduces a statement that contrasts with or seems to contradict something that has been said previously.
Example:

I studied hard for the test. However, I didn’t get a good grade.


2. Therefore – shows cause and effect

Meaning: Introduces a result or conclusion.
Example:

He didn’t come to class. Therefore, he missed the quiz.


3. In addition – adds information

Meaning: Adds another idea to what has already been mentioned.
Example:

She plays the guitar beautifully. In addition, she can sing very well.


4. For example – gives an example

Meaning: Introduces one or more examples.
Example:

Many animals can live in the desert. For example, camels and lizards are well adapted to dry environments.


5. Meanwhile – shows time or contrast happening at the same time

Meaning: Describes something happening at the same time as another event.
Example:

I was cooking dinner. Meanwhile, my brother was setting the table.


6. On the other hand – shows contrast

Meaning: Presents an alternative idea or point of view.
Example:

I like city life. On the other hand, the countryside is much more peaceful.


7. As a result – shows cause and effect

Meaning: Indicates the outcome of something.
Example:

It rained all night. As a result, the game was canceled.
